Do I need lab work?

Updated September 2, 2026

Not everyone needs labs. Whether you do depends on your health intake and your clinician's judgment — some patients are asked to complete lab work before their first prescription, and others may be asked later to keep treatment on track.

Why labs help

  • They give your clinician an objective look at your health before and during treatment.

  • They inform safe dosing decisions and catch anything that needs attention early.

What's typically requested

If labs are needed, your clinician will typically request A1C, TSH, CMP, and a lipid panel. Recent outside results may be acceptable if they're from the last 6 months.

If your clinician orders labs, Jive Health covers the cost — you'll be notified in your patient portal with exactly what to do next.

If you're asked to complete labs, your patient portal will have the details — and your clinician can answer any questions during a visit.
